I am begging the media to put the focus on what was cut, and what the effects of those cuts are likely to be, rather than some nebulous topline number that implies to people that they’re actually doing what they say they are

their “savings” will cost us far more than this, in money and terror

This is exactly the sort of household we need to run the government like. Lots of debt and no spending on essentials, and so your bank account can be distributed to billionaires and corporations. That's the common sense "kitchen table" way to go.

Funny that when Biden does a blanket commutation on non-violent offenders on home confinement they can really focus on the 2-3 worst cases for outrage but when Trump blindly just kicks every "probationary" employee out of a job it is important to focus on the big picture of how much money it saves.
