Well, that’s because he’s a contrarian who is now way out of his depth in a powerful position for which he is unqualified. Just bc he’s a physician doesn’t mean he knows what he’s doing trying to run the NIH. He’s been very wrong about Covid. Basically he’s a trumper, and that’s how he got the job.

He also claimed that restoring trust requires “free speech” at the NIH, which is pretty funny as the U.S. government is ordering scientists not to say things like “gender” and to take all pronouns out of email signatures, etc. He also said he wants to stop “research that could cause a pandemic”…
