This one got me by the throat from the 1st line: “They slip the stent into my vein, to help flush out the longing.” An intense poem as much about navigating multiverses as it is about being gaslit by a friend.

Angel’s poems are always a perfect mix of stunning language + deep, personal meaning. This one beautifully touches on the struggles of having ADHD + longing for what you used to be able to do.

“any god—when you pray—will tell you—the last thing they want to do is turn their back—then they turn.”
Found this one late, but it quickly became one of my favorites. The ending had me thinking for a long time after.

If your jam is nostalgic surrealism, I can’t recommend “Visions of Manhattan” enough. This made me feel like I was time traveling back to college in the city and then to a wistful future.

The language in this one is next level. I’ve never felt like I could taste the sounds of words, but this poem made me feel this way. Equal parts unsettling and gorgeous.

“I’ll tell you all the ways a movie scene can slice open your mouth.”
Love how this one ends almost every line with “slice” as it cleverly takes you from startling cut scene to startling cut scene.
