I'm pro-crust, but I don't see why you would eat it first. Aren't you supposed to hold the slice by the crust in order to keep the pizza sauce off your hands?
It would have to be really good crust for me to attempt such a move. Well-seasoned, a nice skin and flaky interior- no stuffed crust by any means- and large enough in proportion to the remaining slice to preserve equilibrium. When you consider the added complexity of dipping midslice? Like calculus

I usually end up doing that with the middle pieces of square cut pizzas.
I don't know why I started eating pizza whole. Crust pizza was the best!
