I think every historical and current Yu-Gi-Oh! Format can be fun if you look at it with the right lens. There's lots you miss focusing on the prevalence of a meta deck. Rewatching

Players should start with their own perspective, build decks with experience from cards they've actually played. Rather than ripping a top build from a known player and not knowing how to pilot it because they didn't make it.
It might be time consuming for tourney grinders, but the game is supposed to be played and enjoyed. We play games to have fun, and current day YGO forgets that.
