If you read a public-but-scholarly history article noting that the author had done the research for it while still a grad student, would you think less of the article?

I cannot imagine dismissing work because it was done at the graduate level, people with MAs and no PhD are allowed to publish and their work is not less good if it's passed peer review.
Reviewer #2 essentially demanded to know more about the research project itself, and the answer is that I was paid to do the research as a grad student by a faculty member with a fellowship for this purpose
That's good! It's always been a running joke in my field that reviewer 2 is the most difficult. Had quite the entertaining experience with mine when I wrote a F31 proposal.
Oh, it is in mine too!! But it was apparently so hard to get anyone to review this article for the journal that I'm just grateful to have gotten a Reviewer #2 at all 🤷
