This is absolutely on the money. Practice saying no. Say it nicely or say it meanly, rehearse it in your head before you fall asleep. Imagine saying "no, I'm leaving" and mentally rehearse yourself walking away. Practice saying no to people who scare you. Pretend it's Darth Vader and say no anyway.
