I'd pray for him as he steps down and also pray for the commission responsible for selecting the next one

Because we need a good leader who is compassionate, cares about safeguarding and equality and well that's hard to find in senior leaders of any organisation

Keep praying for Justin while he still holds the office. If the see is vacant for a time, pray for wise and spirit-led discernment. Then pray for the next ABC when named.

Since it’s a primus inter pares primacy w/o any pastoral or ecclesial authority for Anglican Americans, I’d probably just omit the prayer until a new bishop is installed, at that point. Like when a diocese is between bishops. It’s an office, not a monarchy, there needn’t always be a holder, right?

That's sort of where I'm leaning. In this season our petition is in a list of other petitions in Eucharistic Prayer D (For Justin ABC, Matthew our bishop, Sean, presiding bishop) so either omitting or saying "for the search for the next ABC" is all we have space to do.
