Ms. Cox is the poster child for 'meets all the stated criteria to get an abortion in Texas' (married, white, a mother, middle class or higher, & at great health risk) & still couldn't. How much worse for those you mentioned and any other marginalized people. I know I'm preaching to the choir. Sorry.

Reading about Brittney Watts this morning made me cry. All my miscarriages were super early term, not much "evidence" to flush, I can't imagine her pain and horror and then being charged for it jfc

There are an alarmingly large number of people in prison in the United States - approximately 8 times the rate of the UK relative to the population. The social and financial cost must be enormous.

As of June 2023, the United States has 158 private prisons, which house about 96,730 inmates, or about 8% of the country's prison population. The federal government and 27 states use private corporations to run some of their correctional facilities.
