Video games cost too much bc wages haven’t kept pace with inflation so individual buying power has shrunk. And video game companies need to pay workers enough to live now, not at the cost of living in 2005. Unions for everybody.

Video games were way more expensive when we were younger. SNES games hit $80 (SFII was minimum $70 in 1992), let alone factoring in inflation! N64 games when factoring in inflation were north of $100. $80 for a true AAA game without spammy/unethical loot boxes and free-to-play gambling is fine.

I very much agree that the industry has been needing to raise the prices for a while. The current cycle of being fired immediately at launch is bad for everyone, and better margins will help. But also most people have less buying power now than in 1992, bc of anti-union policies.

Video games actually haven’t changed price in years. Its only in the last two years that the base prices of new games have gone up to $69. They were $59 for years. But you are correct that it FEELS a lot more now, because wages haven’t kept pace with the cost of living.
