One thing that strikes me is that we've never had a president like actively and personally incite a recession or crash before. We've had policy and policymakers makes contribute to a crash, but we haven't really had someone push the Fuck The Economy Button

Notably Hoover actually still won 39.9% of the vote in 1936 and remained respected within some Republican circles and was going to make a black horse isolationist bid for GOP nomination in 1940 until France Fell (trying to say that even if Trump's base still loves him that ain't enough)

I mean, hell, Hoover was still seen as a competent administrator, which is why he was involved in reorganizing the federal bureaucracy. From the little I have read the man was a bad president but a good bureaucrat.

This is one thing that puzzles me is the why they would do this as it would absolutely impact their holdings. I do wonder if the answer as to why they would do something so insane would be to supplant the US dollar with crypto, which is what I believe was mentioned as a wishlist item.
