The fact that some people in the replies are interpreting this as "they are not scared of elections anymore", what in a doomer brain. Even if that were the case, he's from very red district and nor particularly worried about reelection, so no reason to think that's why he's avoiding interviews.

Gerrymandering was much worse in 2017 and it's not really relevant here for already existing district, with no chance of being redrawn before 2027.

I don't think that's a relevant rebuttal, no? Republicans in districts where they're heavily favored generally don't worry about being reelected, and because gerrymandering "was worse before" doesn't change what gerrymandering *does* to how they think.
