His arrangement of this song show exactly how talented he really was. He refused to do an encore for the shows producer after this song because he said "there is nothing we can follow that with". I agree, it was the cherry on top and the perfect song to end on.

Some of the best renditions of songs came out of the MTV Unplugged series between Nirvana, STP & Alice in Chains. Honestly some songs were way better there than the originals and the sound was always on point

Nirvana always made great choices of songs to cover and were great performers. I think that even if Kurt had never written an original song, they could have been the best covers band of all time, they always nailed it.

I hadn't heard the WASP one and I was pleasantly surprised. Limp Bizkit does a toned down version I didn't expect, but I like it. Shinedown puts a nice rock sound to Simple man that worked well. But Cobain arrangement of Lead Belly' classic is amazing to me. It highlights just how talented he was.

Look I think it was an amazing cover Okay? And by all accounts David Bowie said it was a completely different take on the song and he liked it a lot. I think Bowie's version is amazing as well, and agree with him that it's two different renditions of the song. My favorite? That depends on the day.
