Finally, FIVE DAYS after @microsoft.com decided to push it's AI Copilot into my face every time I open a document or start a new paragraph in Word, the option to disable it popped up in Preferences.

@kevinhearne.bsky.social hang in there - it took a week for the option to disable to show up for me too, but when it did I was able to remove it completely.
This is the 1# reason I use Linux, Im in control of my Operating System not some company thinking they know what's best for me on my computer. Screw Microsoft!
Did similar AND uninstalled the App - still appears on the 365 suite logo on my taskbar and 365 now opens with Co-pilot "Welcome to Microsoft 365 with Co-pilot". Now 365 won't open any new Excel document unless I select open/new from an existing spreadsheet..

Somehow it's worse than it simply existing when it is just shoved in everyone's face that uses the software.
It is doing my head in!
I'm sure others have said this, but I use Libre Office for exactly this sort of eventuality.
