Mine was 1996, I was 7, my parents watched "The Birdcage".
I saw a bit as they watched. My parents explained gay, lesbian and drag (that was all they knew/understood at the time).
They were always open and understanding as they learned more.

my family always included gay folks as ones who are in the struggle with us and didn’t practice erasure of all types of queerfolks

I think I'd have more fun with it now, but all gay representation in media back then had this vibe.
That definitely made me feel things 😳
Like I knew what “Gay” meant but I haven’t seen any openly queer characters till those ones.
