They have been long considered “trash fish” among too many anglers. You can still find plenty of gar myths & poor attitudes towards these fishes, but fortunately that’s changing!

Aw, I'm glad it's changing. They've always been one of my favorites. We have the longnose gar here in Michigan, but I'd love to see an alligator gar.

I caught a few as a kid when I lived in the south, never intentionally, and never was happy about it. hella cool/mean looking fish.
