I think he's acutely aware he's speaking in public, cos that's where he can get the maximal endorphins from belittling people, when he's got an audience.
I heard on R4 that he’s had a big donation specifically for staff to ensure he increases his majority before the next election, looking at his register of interests it looks like it was Peter Hearn, same guy as in this article, where he’s donating to another MP
Worst thing is that even after losing their seats they go straight into the HoL, the media, a think-tank or go to work for some company, which by pure co-incidence, will have done quite well from this government.
I remember a Spitting Image episode from ~1990 where the Labor leader was explaining their new policies to the back benchers. One minister said "Ah, so we should become Tories!" The leader said "No! No! No! We just adopt their policies."
"It must be so painful watching a Labour govt doing the things that they only ever talked about—reducing the size of bloated state bureaucracy, investing in defence, reforming our public services, bringing down the welfare bill. The public are asking "What is the point of the Conservative Party?"
1. Actually I'm asking what is the point of the Labour party?
2. Labour has not yet actually achieved the things he claims, and they won't, for the same reasons that the Tories couldn't achieve them.
I sincerely hope that Labour will be forced to climb down on plunging the disabled into absolute poverty. Whether Starmer think he has "the balls" to do it, or not. They are presenting it as a vote winner but it is not. It is also profoundly immoral and I would think so even if I wasn't affected
These people cannot stop themselves saying the hushed parts in an outdoor voice, because that's who they are.
Vitriolic, spiteful loudmouths & posers, whose true raison d'être is arousal by power & belittling their enemies—who turn out to be everywhere when you are so roundly despised
Consider how much they accuse the left of 'student politics', they are all absolutely like the Labour Students I encountered in the late 80s. Nasty pieces of work, all of them.
Perversely, this is where you end up: denigrating your rivals by braying about how you've become them, whilst doing the best possible PR for the fascists waiting in the wings.
But fuck it, that felt good! That's why you're here—moments like that & reading those zingers back in Hansard later.

How unfortunate that the likes of David Baddiel and Eddie Marsan have retired from political commentary.
This Labour Party only exists to appease Tories and fascists.
Wes is clearly trying to raise his profile for the incoming leadership election

🤔
What is the point of a Labour party that just copies the Conservative party?
Blue Tory
Two colours of the same shite.

I despise him as much as anyone in the Nasty party or Reform
She spent all that time wandering around publicly slagging off #Corbyn
She was parachuted into a safe Northern seat in 2024.
They deserve eachother...
