Strange the Dreamer is my personal favourite. Book 1 of a duology. She genuinely has the most beautiful, lyrical prose I’ve ever read. It’s like candy-floss for the brain.

Strange the Dreamer by Taylor - 1st in a duology.

And the Poppy War trilogy by Kuang - it’s a masterpiece in fantasy world building and writing. I believe the author also has a degree in Chinese history, which is where the mythology is based. Very well done, but check trigger warnings.
