“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America, of extreme wealth, power, and influence, that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead."

He’s trying to position Dems as anti oligarch even tho they’re as ‘garchy as the right. The surge in interest in class struggle vs left/right is making them nervous. As it should. How can they fundraise off up/down when they’re up?
The time for Biden to start future proofing the world against trump was in the first week of his administration
Not the last week
McConnell..McCarthy..Lindsay Graham..Biden and Merrick Garland all had ample opportunity to ensure trump never again got his hands on the levers of power.
They failed
We are currently a plutocracy, does oligarchy look that much different?
My beef with Biden.... still love the man.... was that he supported the existing plutocratic structure.
Plutocracy is often an empty criticism; our system is not perfect, but incremental improvements on our system are the best bet to reaching a better state. "Not supporting" the existing structure is likely to make things worse.
Well a more perfect Union would include Campaign Finance Reform. Legislate around the Citizens's United decision, eliminate dark money, do not allow industries to write legislation regulating themselves.
None of this will happen because the plutocrats control all three branches of government.
True, & important, message for a president to give. With the oligarchy's strangle-hold on information, fighting back effectively is extremely problematic. Maybe Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, et. al. are dropping the puppet-strings and walking out on the inauguration stage because they've won. Done deal.
Yes, today. Because incremental improvements on most metrics are a feature of liberal democracy, even ours, and Trump seems keen to change all that and burn a lot of accumulated improvements and credibility.
Now millionaires and billionaires are in charge and I so sure they are going to tackled poverty ,unemployment, declining cities and The opioid problem 🤣🤣🤣LMAO yea right
Thanks for that.
Although if dolts & miscreants are being appointed to govt, Presidents have been declared no longer accountable under the law, and Congress is no longer minded to uphold the Constitution, you’ll forgive me for thinking that inscrutable Mornington Crescent rules might be prevailing.
If we don't have more dramatic changes in government and we again have adults running things in both parties at some point, hopefully Congress will recognise the urgency of passing a law adding some kind of enforcement mechanism to that provision. Ideally one independent of political winds.
A president who is also Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces and can do whatever he pleases in office with complete impunity and immunity from the law is essentially a dictator, so good luck with that.

The stooge coach is going all the way to the bank - with our tax dollars.
The tax cuts are to pillage the country whilst simultaneously destroying it.
Democracy dies thx to The convicted feLon and eLon.
One is a megalomaniac and the other is a megalomaniac.

This game has been in play for decades now. Decades.
Labour has been eviscerated. Capital is in the ascendant.
Neoliberalism isn’t enough to describe what’s happened/happening: neofeudalism is more apt.
And the feudal age lasted for centuries…
