It unfortunately exposes another issue in our society and that's fat phobia. If your body isn't the small thin model their brain short circuits and they say dumb shit. It sucks.
And I saved a couple people along the way when they realized they were having a stroke or other medical issue that needed looked at.
I've seen a similar experience with long covid peeps too.

So many people, now ex-family and friends, had ALL the (read: worst) advice in the world, or would deny that I was ill entirely b/c I'm "too young" to be sick
Disability does not care how old you are - it just...Happens!
I think that’s why advocacy is so important. We will hopefully challenge people to think differently before it happens to them.
