AZT was a drug that activists with HIV/AIDS fought to get access to in mass protests of the FDA that resulted in fundamental changes to drug testing. The history here isn't "only let doctors have opinions" it's patient advocacy. RFK type quacks are loathed by disability advocates too.

Harrelson does lack a very basic understanding of the history of AZT's approval & history (& modern anti-retroviral drugs), & he also seems to think people don't still use AZT, (often called Retrovir, the brand name), they do, just often in lower doses combined with other drugs. It works.

I think Woody was well on his way before Covid. I met him a few times when I was working in theatre and he was hardcore into “wellness”. I have no problem with healthy living but it does often transition into alt right behaviour.
