you see the demon in front of you. actually it's more like SHE'S LOOKING DIRECTLY AT YOU WHILE YOU CAN ONLY SQUINT YOUR EYES AND THINK ABOUT WHAT SHE MIGHT LOOK LIKE UNDER ALL THE SENSORY OVERLOAD AND HOLY SHIIIIIT LOOK MONEY MONEY MONEY ALCOHOL GET FUCKED UP SPEND STAY RELAPSE
the thing about gambling demons is that they would lose. a lot. i think they'd be a slave to sidebets and unlikely parleys and house odds and the thrill of risking it all. itd be really really easy to beat one
im really just imagining the main character of Kakegurui here (but obviously losing a lot more. addicted to the pure rush, without any of the skill or guile)
Wait is that the one that wagered being a housepet? I've never watched Kakegurui so that's basically all I know other than "for some reason this high school is teaching kids how to gamble"
Never up, but somehow never down. Riding the lightning every game, they can’t resist something that by the numbers is a good bet no matter how long the odds actually are. A two dollar buy in for a billion to one odds to earn two billion dollars? Math checks out it’s an even break. Things like that.
They’re the perfect client for a casino, because when they play with House money it’s always big pushes and big parleys and side pots. The drinks always flow, and the tables around them are excited and thrilled. They play two hands when possible and the engine never stops, the energy is contagious.
It’s the high of the addiction, the thrill of the game made real.
A gambling demon doesn’t win your soul, because you sell it piece by piece to them everytime you say you’ll cash out but choose to play *just one more hand*.
Each time you return, they keep another piece of you in their deck.

Very good when she locks in, but slips often otherwise, and tends to overestimate herself.
She has the skill. If she could walk away, she could do quite well; but she’s nothing but a walking corpse without that rush, so she’s doomed.
Play to lose
Lose to win
