Fran McCaffery saved the Iowa men's basketball team from sliding into (semi?) permanent irrelevance when he took over. That sounds like a low bar, but it was critical.

If today is the end of the Fran era at Iowa, I will say this: There has definitely been more good than bad, and there will be a day he's remembered like Lute and Dr. Tom. At the same time, having one of his few bad seasons come now when apathy had already set in, I get any change that happens.
