Even if they monitor, it’s important to have these conversations out in the open.
Otherwise we’re abandoning 1A and letting intimidation force us into silence and obedience.
Let them see how many stand opposed.

Not everyone is a us citizen. But certainly everyone attempting travel to the states will find themselves monitored.

For sure. The constitution is supposed to afford protections to non-citizens. And yet we live in these crazy times where “rights” seem more flexible.
Caution is warranted. Everyone has to make their own choices. I can’t be silent.

If a specific need isn’t met by a particular technology, try using a different technology.
Signal, for example.

How would that work with Bluesky's decentralized federated protocol? It might be possible using encryption, but it would be complicated.

Kind of ironic that this site asks you to sign up to view the article.

I agree. Something like this should be available without needing to sign in. I sure won’t create a login.
What a shame.

I've not seen it yet, but access should be free if you get their email newsletter - yes you are signing for that, but at least it's not specific

It's not free. It just doesn't cost money. They want your details. Which law enforcement can subpoena.

I thought the whole issue was that private accounts are fundamentally impossible on AT Proto?

It’s just more difficult, not impossible. It’s present as a clear goal in their roadmap.
