My opinion really doesn't matter. I haven't daily-driven any PC sound card for about 2 decades. Have been using AV receivers over HDMI exclusively for quite a long time.
I was using this with an Inspire 5.1 then 6.1 kit, so wasn't an issue there. More driver hell. The solution to both was getting an Nforce 2 based board to actually use 5.1 sound in PC games that supported it.
Oh, forgot to mention that there were two different sets of TRS to TRRS cables for the Creative 5.1/7.1 speakers that was a hellish mess. They had to send me the other set for mine because they stopped including both sets in the retail package.
Now, if any of you happen to have the docking cable for this card, it would be very helpful if you could trace out the connections from the Hirose connector to the 3.5mm jacks for me, so I don't have to guess in the dark🥺
