I was thinking about analogies for this. If you’re facing a huge body of water that is going to flood you, then you can build a big fuck off dam, of using the same amount of resources build a series of tiny dams strung thousands of miles down river. One is much more useless than the other.

This is completely the wrong approach to the question, because it presupposes a truce.

It doesn't happen, for several reasons:

1. #Russia does not want a truce. They started the war to wipe out the Ukrainian state, and intend to finish the job.

2. #Ukraine is not going to sign anything that does not involve real security guarantees, and Russia is not going to sign if such guarantees are established against presumption.

3. The only solution for lasting peace is if Russia loses the war. This should be Europe's and Ukraine's goal.

Too bad the US has betrayed democracy, and is not helping.

We are following Trumps demands like a puppy and discussing issues that are not of immediate importance. We need to start asking questions and following our own path. We really do. There will be a price to pay. We need to stop hoping there won't be. But we are able to pay.
