The issue is serious – in less than a year and a half, the gas pipeline "Balticconnector" was damaged, the "Estlink 2" power cable was cut, and an attempt was made to cut the "Nord Balt" power cable.

Numerous telecommunications cables have also been damaged.

In all three cases, the damage was caused by civilian ships dropping anchors and dragging them along the seabed for tens of kilometers.

Context: After these incidents, a Chinese ship used the same method to cut telecommunications cable connecting Taiwan to the U.S.
