Is the warning sound bothering you? When your shield reaches its lowest level, the sound plays along with a voice saying 'Warning.' Once the shield returns to normal, the sound stops. You won’t hear it as often if you’ve mastered playing shmups!😊
The word “Warning” sounds great, what I’d expect from a 16 bit game. The beeping sound is a bit harsh or piercing tone. Maybe it’s just the volume level of it?
It does make me think of Silpheed (Mega CD). When the shield alarm in that game went off it was extremely tense, but here it seems too frequent to make that same impact. Definitely on "annoying" levels in my opinion. I'd probably keep the sound as is but the voice to when the shield is near empty.
In my opinion, the warning beep and voice will definitely help you develop better tactics. It makes it easier to avoid the enemy’s attacks even with lower concentration.
Yes, it helps. But:
• 2 or 3 “warning”s are enough. Otherwise alarm fatigue will kick in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alarm_fatigue
• Maybe the alarm beep should activate at a lower level than the “warning” message. This gives the player two levels of alarm. Once it begins beeping, it should mean near death.
I can deal with (and appreciate) the WARNING voice. Just as long as it doesn't continuously beep until I refill my shields or die. It can take a while to get a refill or die so that part could get annoying if it happens.
Even though the video quality here still isn’t great and the length is shorter (up to 60 sec) than on X, I appreciate the Bluesky team for rolling out this feature. Hopefully, it keeps improving!
Are there "WARNING BOSS APPROACHING" title-cards for boss introductions? I haven't watched all of the footage yet but it's one of the few things I'd love to see haha
So excited about this! Quick feedback though: any chance to make the “warning” sound optional? I feel like it could end up annoying like the baby Mario cry on Yoshi’s Island 😅

I love these lo-fi voice samples that feels like 90's arcade. It fits a lot the aesthetics of the 16bit era.
I've made a track inspired in your work, but I've chosen a facet of yours different than techno and house. It'll be an honor if you give it a listen!
