Donald Trump’s nomination of Keith Kellogg as Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia raises the likelihood of an initial “escalate-to-deescalate” approach as part of the U.S. strategy to pressure Russia into negotiations. However, whether this will ultimately define the strategy remains to be seen.

Ukraine is on the edge and a loss/material reduction in US aid could be the tipping point.
Trump now proclaims support for Ukraine but it’s simply not credible (or invites a forceful probe of its sincerity and sustainability)

But if their goal is to simply freeze the conflict at the frontline that will be really bad. Investments in Ukraine won't flow when the country isn't save and Russia will recover and start it all over again.
