Interesting article from an old friend of mine 👇 'Understanding Syria through the Prism of T.E. Lawrence and his Seven Pillars of Wisdom' www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

On the Taurus debate: Given the reduced U.S. capacity and wavering political will, Ukraine is facing growing challenges in conducting precision fires at ranges beyond 30km+. In this context, the delivery of Taurus missiles would carry increased operational significance.

Excellent piece. I cited the article extensively in my book “Die Rückkehr des Krieges”.

Putin says arms deliveries from Ukraine’s allies must stop before any pause in hostilities — while European leaders want to maintain pressure on Moscow and continue military support. kyivindependent.com/macron-starm...

A few years back, I wrote about India’s Cold Start doctrine — a limited-war strategy for rapid, high-intensity strikes against Pakistan while staying below its nuclear threshold. The Indian Army has made progress in operationalizing it. thediplomat.com/2019/01/is-t...

European countries certainly have the military capacity and capability to deploy a total of 25,000 troops to Ukraine (about 8,000 per rotation). This is a matter of lacking political will, not military means.

Es ist eine große Ehre und Freude, dass mein Buch „Die Rückkehr des Krieges“ als eines von acht Werken für den deutschen Sachbuchpreis 2025 nominiert wurde.

‚Drones don’t replace troops; in fact, each flight of a first-person-view drone can require up to four soldiers. For flights last week in northeastern Ukraine, a drone squad consisted of a pilot, a navigator, an armorer and a pilot of a retransmitting drone.‘ www.nytimes.com/2025/04/28/w...

In the end, only the presence of European and other Ukrainian partners’ air and ground forces in Ukraine can truly reduce the risk of renewed war after a ceasefire — but deploying them also raises the risk of direct 🇪🇺–🇷🇺 military confrontation.
