I love that. We've destroyed their habitats, so we have to coexist with them. It kills me when people call trappers. It's the worst thing they can do. Trappers aren't in the business of helping wildlife. If there's a problem or an injured animal, best to call a local wildlife rehabilitator.

I worked at a wildlife hospital for 10 years and it taught me a lot about living with our "wild neighbors." People can be cruel and oblivious to what's around them. The lack of education is a huge problem. For too many, the solution is to trap, relocate (which can be illegal) or kill. Horrendous.

I have a little oak in my backyard. There was a squirrel on it yesterday. I was so happy. Growing up in NE Ohio, the squirrels were the size of house cats, this dude was little but he was there. Funny thing, I was talking to my son and actually went, “ooh, a squirrel” like an adhd joke.

Whatever the turkeys don’t eat goes to the possums, raccoons, deer, skunks, squirrels, chipmunks, probably mice, and other birds. We used to have fox, but i fear they got driven out.
