In that example though I can't help but notice that no-one tried to explain to him why they found it offensive - every day a school day and all that. I know why they think it is offensive to point out that John has no children but I maintain it is relevant to his celebration of removing schemes in TH that provide safer streets for children and his dismissal of the objections of 5 headteachers.

It doesn’t mean you need to be a parent to care.

In most disagreements of this nature one side will look to impose a much higher standard on the other, than they themselves adopt. From there a spot of finger pointing and pearl clutching naturally flows as a next step.
It is just a technique to distract from addressing the substance.

Suggesting that Paul attacked anyone for being childless is a fairly extreme interpretation of how that went. There was a suggestion that John Stewart's dismissal of the opinion of five head teachers might be influenced by his not having that particular skin in the game. Insensitive? yes. Attack? No
