My Michael’s doesn’t have a measuring table, and I usually just do yarn work, but I can imagine it getting old. I try to go to indie yarn shops, but they’re 20 minutes or 2 hours away.

Michaels doesn’t sell fabric at all let alone cut fabric. Joann does. That’s why this is such a huge loss. We can buy markers and pens and papers and paint at art stores and Walmart. Holding fabric first, getting it cut to order, this is now dead in hundreds of communities and that is sad.

I've find alot of their stuff to be poor quality tbh (ex.: like any metal bits). :( (In my case I do more fabric related stuff than non-fabric so I'm screwed. No Michaels I've ever been to in my state ever had fabric at all.) HL🙅 I went in yrs ago, bad selection, mostly home "good vibes" decor etc.

Oh. I checked and Bain Capital has a long list of vendors it owns, including Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, AMC Theaters, Brookstone, Domino's, Sealy, Sports Authority, Staples, Toys R Us, the Weather Channel, and more.
Michael's wasn't on the list. 🤷‍♀️

Just discovered that Bain Capital sold Michael's to Apollo Global Management in 2021.
Not saying that's any better.

In communities that support each other, that is called a GOOD THING. I will happily find other ways to be artsy and / or craftsy with my daughter before I give money to people who prefer oppression. ESPECIALLY in a community that is generally so accepting and accomodating of others.
