Motoring supremacists love to paint adult bicycle riders as childish and we often try to push back on the characterization, but frankly, what's wrong with being childish? There are tens of millions of children living in American cities and they have every right to be there and move around safely.

having kids has both 1. made me rely on a car way more, because it's easier to deal with kids when you use one 2. hate car supremacy even more because I realize how much of our environment are deeply hostile to toddlers who still make simple mistakes like not watching for the car going 40mph

Also - car seats! They make it almost impossible to rideshare or carpool. I'm not saying they're not necessary, but they force driving your own car for a long while because installing them properly is such a colossal pain.

My kids love the cargo bike in part because they're not stuck in a carseat.

This same culture denies the fact that adults use wheelchairs and mobility scooters on bike and roll routes. Denies mobility rights to adults who don't drive for whatever reason.
