This is a little bit more anecdotal, but IME the trend of people using dead Black figures like MLK Jr, James Baldwin, Nelson Mandela, Patrice Lamumba etc. is pretty reliably *not* an actual Black person, but someone doing digital blackface.

just two days ago a white “anti racist” liberal was main character for accusing someone of doing digital blackface and it was a Black person who just don’t agree with her on something. so let’s also be careful to not give white people more passes to decide who is and isn’t Black
