You are right. I didn't get my education in the US. My birth country gave me public education with free lunch, and now I know how important this "peark" is for each family.

Most of those lunches are going to the tax payer that most need them.
We all know that big corporations and millionaires are not that great at paying taxes. The only ones getting the lunch will be the ones that already pay for it.
Well, it's not legal in any state that I know of, but it definitely happens. Especially with immigrant kids, but by no means only them. And the meat industry is a known repeat offender, but again not just them. I taught high school, and it was very common for kids to miss school bc of work.

United Methodists usually do. They were an early abolitionist force in the 1830s since so very many of their congregations were Black. They rarely back down from a fight for justice.
I always like them, their history (Southern ones, not so much.) Newt rented a room at the UMC building in DC and was always whining about their "liberal" posters. The woman who ran the desk just calmly told him he was free to move, but they were NOT taking them down. He did. They didn't. 👍
