For those curious about the human side of things, the Oregon Department of Health has been in touch with me and gives me daily checkins on a checklist of potential symptoms of bird flu.
I also requested they run a test on me due to the contact I had with my girls' body fluids over the past week.

We still struggle to sleep in bed.
We panic every time a cat breathes just a little too fast, or sneezes.
I've been following your work and kitties for a while (inspiring me to get myself a kitten again one day). I admire your resolve to provide the best for your gang and yourself and still reach out to the public to educate us.
They will be testing me in my home this week.
Everything else is over the phone.
The cat to cat/human transmission is thought to be low, but I'm still cautious.

I don't think I've ever explained to any individual so much detailed information about my body. They've been quite kind.
Kinda a big ol shrug, honestly. The ODA veterinarian did drop off some PPE, and we were emailed a guide for farm workers which doesn't much apply to living in a home with pets.
We are just washing hands a lot, wearing gloves for litter, and masks outside.
Hopefully I DON'T test positive, but if I do, I'll keep everyone updated on how THAT goes.
As it was I had to specifically request to be tested.
