Something to add to for people who don’t wanna switch to canned food is cooking. Proper prep and cooking kills the avian flu. The flu along with other potential diseases is why I cook my cats food. She’s 17 and thriving. :D

This is what I’ve been giving my cat for the last few months. I talked to a nutritionist and my vet to work out what’s best for my cats kidneys so I don’t change things up much. But for a healthy cat you can change up what animals you get these things from.

You can get a lot of ingredients from your local grocery store. As for the organs and bones a butcher is likely to have them. You can chop them up or grind them. Whatever you and your cat prefer.

when I make the bone broth I throw in any bits from the fish I use and the harder tendons from the gizzards. They soften up a lot and I can add them back in the food. The food itself I just cook in a big pot and then portion it out to freeze.

My cat ate canned food and kibble her whole life. A few months ago I genuinely thought she was getting close to the end. She was miserable. I can’t afford a renal diet so I had to try a home made diet. She is thriving. Gained weight. Has energy I thought was gone for good. It’s amazing.
