I think one of my favorite things are people who talk to me about their pure bred whatever cat(maine coon/russian blue), or their rare color (male calico) and then pull up a photo of a short furred tuxedo and tell me things like "his mother was a calico so he's half"
Like I have nothing I can say😹

Second pic of Rose for a better look at her pattern
I just love the little 'M's on their heads and how fluffy they are, makes for great petting
I think Rose's sister Rene was a Mackeral perhaps! A young photo of her, but a good clear pic of her pattern.
They’re so special…
a special little man even if he isn't Russian Blue in the slightest
Heihei is a red point white white!
Long haired brown classic or mackerel tabby would be my guess!
I'm not as good at identifying the tabby pattern in longer furred cats 😹
Very high white!
Tabby cats can get a lot of warm browns.
Do you know if he's deaf on the blue eye side? It's very common with white odd eyed cats!
Heterochromia is recessive so it's not unlikely he could have other recessive things going on (or nothing!)
Tuxedo is just a black with white, and the tabby appears to be a brown mackerel tabby with white!

I keep joking she's a very rare melanistic ginger girlie because she has no brains...

(absolutely saving this hahahaha)
My best guesses...
A brown classic tabby with white.
And
A blue lynx point with white (tabby siamese)
There are some unique colors tabbies can present with and he/she might 👀
When the stripes are nearly invisible it's harder to guess
She's so pretty and fluffy!
Thank you for going through all these! Isn't she just the silliest furball :)
so if you ever get to see a well bred Russian blue they have these incredibly THIC coats. His coat has a lot of that energy, just with longer guard hairs!
Honestly I think folks underestimate how much diversity there is in the village mutt. Where do you think all of the neat purebred features came from?
My mom is always having people ask her if her old lady is a persian, too.
Or a Maine coon.
She's a supermarket box special!
Bonus pic of our late boys (mutt cats).
She's 10 years old and the vets didn't believe us til they checked her teeth; keeps 3 pit mixes in line
I promise they are! Just not with a name.
But you import a dog from outside the US and you sometimes get a "village dog" with no breed history. They are pre breed.
What I like to say is "if you really feel like your cat has the traits of x, y, z breed it's because they likely have a lot in common with the strays who built those breed foundations even if entirely unrelated."
Don't waste money on cat genetic panels that guess breed. They are highly inaccurate. I only suggest the wisdom breeder panel which breaks down 50 genetic ailments and coat and color genetic markers.
Still not necessary, though.
Your cat is a village cat and has the potential to have been a hundred different breeds :) they are incredibly special BECAUSE they aren't "special"!
But village cats is cute too lol.
Beautiful tabby!
Tabby tortie. My pandora is very similar!
He was 85% white, with 2 or 3 brown tabby splotches, and several solid orange spots. Medium fur length!
He's a long furred brown tabby with white!
He and his brother both have kinked tails because they were very large kittens, and their mom is very small.
You can always run the Wisdom breeder panel on him as it includes a breakdown of 50 genetic diseases. Don't pay money for the breed guess portion, as the breeder specific one is cheaper.
But with any moggie just practice observation!
I would just call her a red van with white, but the blue eyes make me suspect she's a red point with LOTS of white!
There's also NEW dominant blue eye gene, but maybe she somehow had it!
I'm still very curious what her official color would be with those eyes. High white colorpoint? (Heihei is a red point with a LOT of white)
And I just … no. Stahp.
Or just classic tabby :) refers to his large markings.
According to her adoption sheet she's a siamese sphynx mix 🙄
To me she's just a colour point dsh 😆
But, she's definitely got dilute tortie in there.
She's definitely a dilute colorpoint, though! You can tell by the blue of her nose. Reds can be extremely light in tortie points, but the nose would be solid black if she wasn't dilute!
Siamese, maybe. But sphynx, nah to slim chance.
Yep! She's a billion colours, but she's also got the tortitude for sure. Sweet, but cheeky lol
ours likely has some persian in him, just because ppl have bred into a lot of indoor cats here
but he also mixed with a bunch of other cats! i dont really call him a specific breed or see the need to do so, hes just ornj flavoured!
Your kitty appears to be a dilute blue with white :) very pretty!
Blue is dilute black (gray)
Mackerel tabby is thin stripes
With white just means that.
the only thing that makes me feel kinda iffy on the general lack of cat breed knowledge is how it makes it easy for scammers >_>
More likely backyard bred, Turkish Angora and Japanese bob.
I know with dogs, give it a few generations and there's may be no trace of specific breeds, so I assume with cats there's just usually not enough pure bred cats having oops litters for them to be common.
Even my heavy weight 15 lb cat is just a standard shorthair tuxedo cat.
Who people insist must have Maine cat in him...
Like big vats exist! (He should be 17 but hips so is at 15).
Bonus pic of Rat my medical nightmare ex feral kitty
The only thing I know is he's a burned loaf trash goblin.
Classic = thick markings
Mackerel = very thin stripes
The only thing that might be accurate is if you checked his coat typing.
Maybe.
Still is, but the undercoat isn't as thick as before. He's mostly guard hairs now.
I wonder if it's linked to the dilute gene in some cats.
Mum was a Bengal, I’m not sure of the dad unfortunately but I’m assuming for both of them a moggy since they both have white and the mum was pure Bengal with no white!
It’s always been crazy to me how different they both are 💖
Jack had longer hair than the other two, just enough to get nasty
