A lot of dangerous tropes here.
Money-grubbing.
The piles of kids' shoes - obvious Holocaust reference.

I'm no fan of Netanyahu, but using Holocaust imagery and "Jews=dodgy market traders" to make a point is beneath you, Steve.
I think the idea is that Netanyahu is at a car boot sale rather than being a dodgy market trader. What really comes across in the picture is that Bibi seems quite proud of himself.
It’s not holocaust imagery, there was an artistic representation of how many Gazan children died in the genocide. It was done via shoes. Hence the coloured images…
That's not how the vast majority of Jews would see any such image - and yes, that is a relevant point that someone as smart as Steve should be mindful of.
Steve is an artist, and I believe art like this is intentionally designed to spark conversation. It encourages those who understand its meaning to share insights with those who might not.
Would you have understood the context of the shoe images if I or others hadn’t explained it to you?
Thanks for giving me more context I'm always happy to learn more. As I hope you are, to understand (if you didn't already - I have no idea) that piles of kids' shoes are particularly triggering to Jews. He made a choice. You see it as a valid choice, I see it otherwise. Have a good day.
His name is Chris BTW. The Steve comes from Steve McFadden who is ‘an everyman’ kind of Eastenders character we all may know in our lives. The ‘Cold War’ you can appreciate I’m sure and as such images of war created by Chris should be taken as such and not a satirical persecution of any race/gender
I’m not sure it’s ok to tell a group how they should or shouldn’t “take” imagery which relates to a trauma like the Holocaust. I don’t deny Chris’s right to make the choices he makes in his work, but it’s up to me how to take them. (And thanks for the name clarification)
Just expanded picture and read the signs and recognized Bi-Bi, Zionist scum that he is. And Little Joe still sends him weapons, yet another reason to be embarrassed to be American (being from the Midwest I can pass for Canadian in a pinch, just say oot and aboot and be nice, it's not that hard)
I always enjoy your work and this is no exception but it’s so hard hitting and factual, it made me weep. Free Palestine. Stop sending arms to Israel Keir Starmer
Wow I didn’t know Hamas was forcing Israel to bomb hospitals and deny little girls exit to get life saving treatments after their bombs tore off half her face.
Mad how some people will never accept responsibility for their own actions but will always blame someone/something else.
Kinda hard to do when you're enclosed (imprisoned) on a densely populated 25 mile long strip of land. But you know this...
Israel is only too happy to hide behind the excuses you mention.
No, it’s not. Here’s Israels’ bases (available with a google search)
Hamas knew this and STILL attacked civilians in Israel. This is deplorable behavior and should be retaliated against.
Now if Hamas did the same separations and Israel still killed civilians in Gaza that would be deplorable bythem
You're so close. IOF and Israeli settlers do attack civilians, on a daily basis, have been doing so for years and for long before October 7th. They have thousands of civilians in prison, many of which are children. None of what they are doing is 'justifiable'.
What are you talking about? 2023/10/7 was a military operation that specifically targeted enemy (IDF/IOF) bases surrounding the Gaza strip and they killed nearly 400 active duty IDF. The circumstances of the remaining ~700 civilian/reservist deaths are unclear. IDF certainly incinerated many.

Nailed it again, Chris.

An excellent portrayal, and one which the onlookers behind will not wish to be associated with. Take good care of yourself Cold War Steve.
In any Holocaust museum, the first thing one can come across is a montage of shoes, especially children's shoes.
Netanyahu needs to be held to account.

Haunting.
