Yeah. Fundamentally the only restrictions on the right to free movement I find valid are if you commit crimes, of which the solution is jail time rather than deportation, which is just moving the problem somewhere else rather than solving it

I think fundamentally people have the right to move wherever they want. It's not about whether we're being kind or guilt-ridden, it's that someone who wants to be an American shouldn't have to do anything but show up in New York Harbor and say "I want to be an American" in whatever language.
