Single-handedly changed my mind about Andrew Garfield. A delirious, funny, ultra-paranoid and perverted neo-noir that owes a ton to The Long Goodbye (another favorite) and Thomas Pynchon (my dude).
Coralie Fargeat's debut feature and the best that the r*pe-revenge subgenre has to offer. Unrelentingly brutal with some body horror moments that make me cringe even after a few watches. My favorite final act of all time. Comfort movie for weird bad bitches.
Horny cinema for the deranged and doomed. Haneke managed to include both the hottest scene I've ever seen on screen (p*rno included) and the most gut-wrenchingly sad one in the same film. This one absolutely wrecks me.
Undeniable top to bottom banger. De Niro at his sexiest. God tier soundtrack. Today this would be an 8 episode Netflix show and it would fucking suck. God bless Michael Mann.
I'm a Cronenberg fangirl and I can't watch this one enough. Debbie Harry is a masochist. There's a stomach-pussy, a moaning TV-mouth-boob, and a dick-gun-hand. All practical effects. And they say "Videodrome" roughly a hundred times. Shit rules.
What happens when you give the male gaze exactly what it wants? A cartoon of sexuality that reflects back on itself as grotesquerie. Oh, and MISOGYNY is why this gets panned and Verhoeven's other films (Robocop, Starship Troopers) get lauded as brilliant satire.
