Stockings are harder than plain knitting and take longer, fair isle colorwork takes longer than plain knitting, and if you don’t already do both things you’ll also take longer because you’re learning a new technique.
Not to mention I've posted-

I am so sorry she was rude, this is like the worst time of year to drop that big of an ask on someone.
I would be really stressed out by this too, but as someone on the outside of the situation she is one million percent in the wrong here. Incredibly entitled and rude behavior.
(I had a friend once who would say, I can’t make it for you but I can teach you how to make it - want to come over for lunch? - and believe me 29 minutes of learning how much goes into a SOCK never mind stocking/sweater shuts you up real fast)
unkind and definitely dismissing the realities involved with handmade things!
Basically saying screw the time & skill it takes!
Demanding it cheap and in 2 weeks is not something friends do...total dink about it to be honest!
I wouldn't make them a thing.
They won't appreciate it.
