Have been loving all your scans and am sure the huge amount of work is beyond belief so thank you!! The collectors scene in Japan is definitely full of people having amazing collections never seeing the light of day...and then getting tossed in trash eventually. Not just for games but toys books etc

Reading this my main thought is, Gods, I truly like you as a person and what a treasure you are to this world. Then there were a thousand cool thoughts but you reminded me of something I'd long forgotten. Why I had started focusing on & scanning doujinshi before internet sales sites-

The expense, the lack of access, but mostly: "we are capturing context." There is an undercurrent that fandom captures, the culture that forms & is formed by, so licensed works aren't the whole picture. I view the fandom as an aspect of the whole. It's not as important as zines made for real life-

Even if it isn't -as- important, these histories are fragile and ephemeral and as such need to be captured while they still can be. The benefits to the historical record might be minor now, but will only become greater and greater with time. Some dude in 2073 will be thanking us

Exactly! So much of what you touched on, like "what is being done now, and what do I enjoy now, but isn't given much thought by the mainstream" often becomes the ponderings and questions of the future. When the voices of the time are no longer around: what will remain to show more aspects of reality
