Lol, You should see what I ran into with an East Coast utility in the early 90s - Revolutionary War cannons repurposed as gas pipes, wooden pipes made by coopers, with the iron clasps completely rusted out. Or a Pac NW utility with Low pressure cast iron, buried under multiple layers of buildings
Hey @kylec.bsky.social , what are they doing with all those useless, poison lead pipes? There must still be some use for lead that doesn't make people dumb or kill them.
That’s where the term “fire plug” originates…firefighters would drill into the then wooden pipes and after the fire was out would “plug” the wood for future use.
