I will say this - EVERYONE with power seems to be desperately hoping that unpopularity does the work that consequences need to do

I want to talk about trans suicides and 'distress'. Specifically in the context of this thread and the climate of sheer hostility that has been fostered by government policy and societal apathy towards, if not outright endorsement of, trans suffering. Many folks chalk this up to "gender distress".

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a union brother. Metalworker apprentice in SMART, looking to do right by his family. At their national meeting a few days back, the National Build Trades Unions prez Sean McGarvey demanded Garcia's immediate return. www.instagram.com/reel/DIVDI_I...

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

One of the problems with the Trump regime is that they are so evil that they do a hundred evil things a day and so it all melts together for regular people. It’s uncomfortable to exclude other travesties in favor of one, but this is the one we should choose.

every single mayoral candidate in NYC has texted me for dollars Except @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, who I have already given cash to on purpose Who I am telling my NYC people to rank first: Zohran Mamdani

I am extremely pleasantly surprised. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

You know what's weird about being an American? On the one hand we're one of the richest countries to have ever existed in the history of humanity. But also 8 year old set up lemonade stands to pay for their moms cancer treatment

incorrect headline: “Trump administration to screen immigrants for antisemitism” accurate headline: “Trump administration blames Jews for expansion of surveillance state”

We watched people standing in line for 8-10 hours to vote in Georgia, so they made it illegal to give them water. They called in bomb threats to majority Black polling places. They did everything they could to suppress the vote. And then folks are out here like, "well Georgia voted for this lol"

this guy... PLEASE do not rank him on your ballot, fellow New Yorkers. He's a clown. Put five other names on your ballot, none of them being his.

This makes me worry about the death toll from Covid in an entirely different way.

There is in fact no way to make a case for a moral or political obligation to have children that does not degrade the status and dignity of women by claiming ownership their bodies as instruments for collective use.

The anti-DEI trend is directly related to the incel phenomenon that I call the Mr. Collins issue. In Pride & Prejudice, Charlotte married Mr. Collins because she was going to be someone’s dependent no matter how she sliced things, and so marriage, even to an annoying toad, was her best option.

I chose not to go exclusive with Kindle Select, which means I can't offer Kindle Unlimited for my book. I'm hoping the sacrifice is worth it. For those who are against the Lex Luthor of tech bros, my Beautiful Dreamer novel is on: Barnes, Kobo, Google, Apple, and these (image)

Hey, just a quiet reminder: it’s not true that people get more conservative as they age. *Populations* get more conservative as they age because poor and marginalized people die sooner. nymag.com/intelligence...

I had a joke about Ariadne but I lost the thread.

“mommy isn’t here so there is no one to help you except for the cats and they can’t help you because they are cats” Im single parenting right now That is a direct quote from my three year old minutes ago I’m ruled by tiny psychos.

I’m gonna say something that is going to sound crazy, but when has that ever stopped me from saying something publicly: there is a way in which the U.S. chucking its position in the world could actually fast-track energy transition. A few things that have me thinking this way 🧵

everything is vibes, except vibes, which are real

This article about AI as the fascist aesthetic (and how to react to it in that context) is so good.

You voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that you're sure the Senate will protect you from it actually becoming law, and you think your constituents are dumb apes bsky.app/profile/gold...
