He so cute!! Does he have Cushings? That's an impressive amount of hair for a horse in New Mexico! (I think it is, anyhow. My concept of New Mexico's winters is probably skewed as I'm from Wisconsin sadhfkg)
I am thoroughly impressed that you clocked he has Cushings from that pic! It is a relatively new thing for him, so I had to learn all about it from my dad. So yes, Cushings, but also yes, winter coat. (NM is high desert, so it does get cold and sometimes snows. But not like Wisconsin. π)
Another cute thing about Scout is that his lips are nearly prehensile (even for a horse π€£) and he likes to gently nibble at and lick people who are willing to be nibbled at and licked. πβ₯οΈ
I have cared for many, many geriatric horses over the years and have learned to look for the signs -- important when they cannot simply tell us. It's really a privilege to be able to steward their care when they get older and require more support. I'm so glad he's in good hands!!
Hello, beautiful Cedar! β₯οΈβ₯οΈ Scout is my parentsβ horse, and Iβm helping taking care of him while my dad recovers from surgery. Getting horse time is a fun silver lining. ππ
