I'm only buying at Costco and BJ'S. $23.49 for 5 dozen, about $4.70 a dozen before tax.

yeah i live in dc and regular degular eggs are $8/doz. i saw organic cafe free for $11 🙃 i am laughing sardonically at the 8-months-ago version of me who balked at $7.50 for "just egg". now the fancy mung bean stuff is the affordable option (and won't give me salmonella or h5n1 ... yet.)

I wonder if it’s about distribution chains and contracts. If your main supplier is out of business all of a sudden because they had to cull their flock, you’re going to buy on the open market at top price, while your competitors are still buying on contract

I'm in NJ and our eggs are still normal prices for the most part. We bought 2 dozen from our meat/egg guy for $5 a dozen. But last time I bought them at Wegmans they were about the same price - even using Instacart.

Target in Twin Cities was 4.19 a dozen today and shelves were full. I think these stores are screwing with people because they can.
