Maybe it will actually work and all that American produce will be sold for cheap in your supermarkets. I mean maybe American food will just be animal feed in 4 years.
I work in food service in Texas. Mentioned the tariffs to my boss who said there would be a surplus that would drive prices down when nobody buys food...nobody buys food...is everyone here on stupid pills or something?
I come back to the Brexit analogy, and it's gonna be like this (stuff you like is now not in the store, shit is more expensive, and you've expelled drivers thanks to the deportations so everything, even local stuff is getting delivered with a delay).
If Starbucks, Amazon, Walmart, etc cared so much about us organizing they wouldn't drive us all to the same places on our off time. (Food banks, DSHS, community health/dental clinics) If there was a crumb of class solidarity of the working class that's where the revolution begins.
I think the only way people actually learn anything is if progressive or even liberal leadership actually seizes the moment to tap into those feelings.
By the way, did you hear the people calling you a pedo the first time you’ve up here got 86’d for taking advantage of people / SAing them after grooming them and getting posters derangement syndrome lol
I worked at a grocery store for 7 years. During the winter storms people would stock up on soup. Specifically Campbell chunky soup. Zero condense soups or basics.
I have been watching you talk about things like this for a while and really don’t resonate with your attitude on the subject. The “you will suffer but I have piles of money” rhetoric is really going to get in the way of people connecting with you on social media. (The central point is still valid)
tbf that's how christians do it. vote for the government to be useless and then posit the church as the only place to go for relief from the problems they've caused. need to start making people sit through an hour of Das Kapital before they get their soup
We gotta populism the soup kitchens so hard that we integrate light spiritual elements so that more people feel welcomed into the soulful human experience represented in the soup bowl made by their fellow comrades with the heart and might of a soldier fighting in war
My dad was so proud that were never on food stamps when I was coming up. Our power and water was cut regularly. I think he shoulda maybe taken the helping hand.
My Dad’s the same way, though we were working class growing up we never “went without”, if that makes sense? There were times where my Mom had to tell him to sit down somewhere because he’d still try to go out & work in the shipyards (Longshoremen) while he’s sick as a dog. That’s dangerous. Like…
Soup kitchens are socialism and will be made illegal. Also they'll gather the homeless in one place which will make it less sporting to do homeless hunting, which will be made legal.
Hopefully the fashion wear of the Great Depression also carries over. The people in those photos are WAY better dressed than the average American today lol
