This makes a lot of sense, and it's convinced me to cut Governor Whitmer some slack.

I’m not as mad at Whitmer as a lot of folks are. She was there to get stuff done for her state, and she got ambushed with an Oval Office appearance.
Trump did that (including praising her) on purpose - she scares the crap out of the GOP and he was hoping to wound her politically.
